FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a SCAC code?
SCAC (Standard Carrier Alpha Code) is a North American standardized alpha code managed by NMFTA, used on bills of lading, manifests, and EDI to uniquely identify a carrier.
How do shipping alliances relate to individual carriers?
Alliances are vessel-sharing arrangements between carriers. From 2025, the mainstream alliances are Gemini, Ocean, Premier, plus independent MSC. A single voyage may be jointly operated by multiple carriers in the same alliance.
How often is your carrier data refreshed?
We refresh vessel particulars and alliance assignments daily. Active voyages and port-call events update every few minutes to every hour, depending on availability from global AIS and official carrier sources.
How do we connect this data into our own systems?
Once logged in, you can integrate via OpenAPI, with standardized data for carriers, vessels, routes, schedules, and port-call events. See the developer docs or contact us for a trial key.
